on wtop radio. both were asked in separate interviews about the accusations by a young man that someone in the fenty campaign promised him a paid job if he would cast an early vote for the mayor. vincent gray is calling for an fbi investigation. mayor adrian fenty dismissed the still unproven story. >> and there's now evidence despite denials of the spokesperson for the mayor's campaign, there is evidence that this man went down and registered that day and voted that day. >> one driver who was unnamed may have said to somebody hey, if you come to vote with me, maybe you'll get a job. that person didn't have authority to even offer it, let alone whether we know he even did it. >> today's events were the last scheduled confrontations before tuesday's primary. staying in d.c. now details in the florida avenue crash and adams morgan. police are looking into where the driver was in the hours before hitting two students and slamming in front of a business. fox 5's roz plater has the latest. and the alcohol board are

investigating the accident that happened here wednesday night. investigators want to know who served the driver what and when. court records show the suspected drunk driver chamica adams had a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit. her cars veered off florida avenue, plowed into a restaurant striking and critically injuring two grad students who attend johns hopkins school of international studies. >> it's a horrible incident and when you talk about alcohol and the hof acquisition that alcohol, especially drink -- havoc that alcohol, especially drinking and driving can create, no better example. >> reporter: one of the owners at a district bartells fox 5 they offered surveillance -- at a district bar tells fox 5 they offered surveillance video and they say in a statement adams was served a minimal amount of alcohol hours before this unfortunate accident. ms. adams was witnessed by several employees and patrons and at no time did ms. adams seem or act incoherent or

intoxicate. the police investigation continues as city leaders say they will focus on whether any restaurant or bar overserved her. >> we have revoked alcohol licenses and we will continue to do that. we're not going to tolerate irresponsible behavior because as everyone knows, alcohol is a potentially dangerous substance. >> reporter: now the police chief says that investigation should wrap up quickly. in the meantime adams is released by the judge until her day in court. she is ordered on curfew and not to drink. i'm roz plater, fox 5 news. on to florida now where the pastor who threatened to burn copies of the qur'an to mark the 9/11 anniversary is in new york city tonight. pastor terry jones believes he was lied to by a muslim leader who said the mosque planned near ground zero would be moved if jones called off the burning. his friend pastor k.a. paul spoke on jones' behalf to the press in florida before leaving for new york earlier today. >> and yesterday pastor teddy had been clearly deceived by

investigators continue to search the smoldering rubble just south of san francisco in san bruno california. they're trying to find out why a natural gas line ruptured killing at least four people, injuring dozens of others. fox's anita vogel has more from the 15-acre area charred by the massive fire. >> reporter: the fire is contained, but the search for a cause to this deadly blaze is

only just beginning. a massive blast in the city of san bruno sending giant flames shooting 80 feet into the air in this quiet neighborhood. >> all the windows in the house shook and the house felt like it was shaking it was that strong. >> reporter: followed by a blazing inferno hot enough to turn dozens of homes into ashes. smoke hanging over the smoldering city for hours. now all that's he left of some homes is a chimney. the force of the blast crumbling dozens of structures right down to their gray foundation. one fire chief saying the scene looks like a moon scape in some areas. many of the homes are still too hot to search. >> the melted charred cars and houses that disappeared, it was just amazing. >> reporter: crews press on looking for anyone who may have been unable to escape. dozens including firefighters were injured by the blast. >> law enforcement is still looking at the missing person report to help us if there's any more fatalities. we have done our preliminary

well, did you see it? a brawl breaking out at a political rally. take a look. air protester from an opposing party head butted a politician in turkey, then started throwing fists. the crowd quickly jumped on the

protester before police stepped. in the rally turned into a riot as the outraged crowd tossed stones at the police accusing them of not protecting the politician. back stateside new tests to protect both airline pilots and their passengers. transportation secretary ray lahood announced some pilots will fly fewer hours, some will fly more. it would also require pilots to be given nine hours of rest between workdays. that's an hour increase over current rules. and a bizarre panic attack in mid-flight. courtesy of this playboy bunny. investigators say 21-year-old model tiffany livingston was flying on a jetblue flight from orlando to newark but apparently had a bad case of high anxiety. she reportedly bolted from her seat and tried to open the door. livingston was detained and charges are pending. tonight the news edge is giving you the first look at what may be the future of

flying. shawn yancy has more in your fox 5 top five. >> we know most airlines stripped away the perks. wait till you hear this latest idea. no. 5, you already have to pay for luggage. so even some front row seats. imagine flying standing room only, an italian company that makes airline seats designed this standing room seat and say there's a strong interest from airlines worldwide. the company claims the seats are comfy and would lead to cheaper fares. no. 4, beware of an e-mail offering downloads of free sex movies or documents. cyber security experts say it's a nasty virus that attacks computers running the windows operating system. fox news reports the same virus put down service at nasa and comcast on thursday. no. three, allergy symptoms can be a sure sign of future heart problems. aol health reports the allergies don't cause heart disease but can be an indicator. researchers found a 40% higher risk associated with people who had symptoms like stuffy noses

talking to me about it, wanted to know if it was going to rain sunday morning. >> i'm just going to say sources are telling me. >> if you are at the triathlon this weekend, chances are you'll get wet when you aren't in the water. there may be a rumble of thunder or two early sunday morning as this comes through, but then again that early rumble of thunder may be just staying to the south of us, too. it's been a great evening, temperatures staying up earlier in the lower 70s. we're down to the upper 60s now, pretty much areawide. in some spots it's fallen down to the upper 50s and overnight tonight, especially in the suburbs your temperatures will be in the lower 50s out there. frederick 57 degrees, dulles in the middle 60s, martinsburg 55, our friends in winchester 59 and here in town it's dropped down to 67 degrees. another big thing going on this weekend, we know when this is for sure. this is sunday night, kickoff about 8:20 or. so we'll have rain in here on

at the bmw championship tiger woods the defending champion and a five time winner shot a 72 leaving him in a tie for 40th. right now his rank in the fedex cup standings is no. 51 and tiger needs to finish around fifth at cog hill to qualify for the tour championship in two weeks. venus williams, a three seed facing the defending champion no. 2 seed kim clijsters in the semifinals of the u.s. open. venus takes the first set, clijsters the second. tied at four games apiece in the third set and venus thinks she's got the win are, but watch this. clijsters gets -- winner, but watch. this clijsters gets the beautiful lob and extends her winning streak to 20 matches and will face seventh seeded vera zvonareva in tomorrow night's final and the orioles beat the tigers 6-3. that is all for sports. the edge is back after this.
